Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has discussed issues of mutual interest with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini in a meeting in New York.
President Rouhani met with American Muslim leaders in New York on Tuesday and emphasised that Islam is the religion of mercy, democracy, intellect, science, consultation and elections, adding: “The main way of combating terrorism is cultural actions and introducing true Islam to the younger generation”.

President Rouhani met with the Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel in New York and described relations between the two countries long-standing and developing, saying that Iran welcomes the presence of Belgian companies for investment or joint activities in Iran.
President Rouhani emphasised efforts to increase the volume of economic ties between Tehran and Oslo to the level of existing capacities, and said: "The new conditions in the post-JCPOA era have created great opportunities for developing relations between the two countries in different sectors of economy, making use of which can benefit the two nations and the region”.
President Rouhani emphasised that Tehran wants to develop relations with Islamabad in all areas, stating that Iran attaches great weight to its friendly, brotherly relations with Pakistan.
President Rouhani described the current conditions of the world as the result of a series of mistakes in decision making and emphasised the influential role of the media in the decision-making process, transfer of facts and defending the interests of nations.
President Rouhani addressed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Myanmar and said: “Should the extensive violation of the basic human rights of the Rohingya Muslims be left unattended, it would further encourage extremism,” calling for a meaningful response to the dreadful situation of the Muslim community in Myanmar by the United Nations and OIC.
President Rouhani described the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) an important international agreement and stressed that today, after the attempts by the seven countries for negotiations to yield result and JCPOA’s operationalisation, we should not allow a single country to arbitrarily disrupt the agreement.
